Since the pandemic began, the FHA has helped millions of Americans weather this crisis by expanding mortgage relief options for ailing homeowners and maintaining a foreclosure and eviction moratorium on homeowners with FHA-insured single-family mortgages.
We believe the majority of borrowers who are behind with their mortgage payments are behind due to the financial pressures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Colored communities are disproportionately affected by the pandemic and are likely to make up a large proportion of homeowners who are behind on their FHA-insured mortgage payments.
Our goal is to get as many homeowners in trouble as possible to request a mortgage payment from their caretaker. HUD-approved housing counseling agencies are ready to help homeowners who are behind with their mortgage payments take steps to save their homes, but they must act now. In support of this effort, Single Family and Housing Counseling will host a series of events that will focus on new homebuyers and sustainable solutions for ailing homeowners.
