TYLER, Texas – The Smith County Habitat for Humanity ReStore hosted a special presentation for local veterans support organizations on Wednesday.
The Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Fund for Veterans Assistance (FVA) provided over $ 1 million in grants to six East Texas-based organizations.
These grants will help support a variety of services offered to East Texas veterans, including emergency financial assistance, rental and mortgage assistance, transportation, and family support.
Funding for these grants is generated through the Texas Lottery Commission games designed to aid the veteran. Other sources of funding for the scholarships include individual donation options for driver’s licenses, gun licenses, outdoor recreational licenses for hunting and fishing, and vehicle registrations.
