ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – President Biden has signed an extension to the Paycheck Protection Program, giving small businesses in West Virginia two months to apply.
The program has provided a lifeline to many companies that struggled during the pandemic. John Asbury, CEO of Atlantic Union Bank, says more could benefit from this before the program expires.
“For any company that is eligible, we strongly recommend considering an application,” Asbury said in an interview with WDBJ7 on Wednesday afternoon. “It is very much. It is actually a grant structured as a forgivable loan and has never seen anything like it before. “
Since the PPP program began last year, Atlantic Union Bank has provided more than 15,000 $ 2.2 billion in loans, according to Asbury.
He says most of it went into the bank’s Virginia market.
